From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: WHITE PARASOL (Mrs. R.M. Wolf '58). M-ML-38". See in color. From high in Colorado Rockies, near Continental Divide, where temperatures of -25. have been recorded, comes this magnificent flat white Iris. A huge snow-white flower often up to 9"; flattens out much like a white parasol; hence its name. Displayed as a guest at American Iris Society Convention, Memphis, Tenn. Unlike most of older "flats", would seem to be a tetraploid, judging from its vigor & great size. Will be in constant demand as a corsage flower, & for use indoors in large flat containers. Substance heavy. Pollen variable, sometimes good; sets seed, so will be used by hybridizers everywhere. (Spanish Peaks X Violet Symphony). It is partially inconstant & variable when poorly established, or at end of season. Regularly $5.00; on $10 order $3.50; on $25 order $2.50.
From Adamgrove catalog, 1997: WHITE PARASOL (Wolf, 58) As the name implies, this one has a different shape, namely, flat. Six creamy white petals lay flat out. At least most of them do; as inmost of the "flats", some flowers are shaped like your ordinary, everyday iris. $6.00
