From Tell’s Iris Garden catalog, 1951: WESTERN HILLS (Mrs. F. Allen Brown). Midseason. Reblooms. (Unknown, but looks to have Radiant blood.) Mentioned by Mrs. Steedman as a dependable fall blooming variety in Roanoke, Va. This reblooms early enough to insure blooming in most sections of the United States. Its fall bloom is even better than its spring flowering and will bloom without special care. The colors are those warm golden-mustard-tans seen in autumn leaves. The falls are flushed with silvery-plum or peacock-blue over rich copper. The beard is gold. Lovely strong fragrance. Height 42 inches. $10.00. |
