'Wax Candles' (Mrs. C. Whiting, R. 1952) Seedling# 4648. TB, 30" (76 cm). Midseason late bloom. White self, yellow at haft; yellow beard. 'Sharkskin' X 'Jake'. Maple Valley 1952.

From Maple Valley Gardens catalog, 1952: WAX CANDLES. Whiting 1953. N0. 4648 (SHARKSKIN X JAKE). Midseason to late. 24 inches. A delightfully cool and clean flower of waxy white with a glowing yellow light at haft and beard. Blooms profusely on strong rather closely branched stalks. Very effective in a clump--a good companion for JEWEL. The strong, hardy plants increase rapidly. $5.00.
