Awaiting original catalog description
From Bonnewitz catalog, 1927: VIKING (Bliss). A pure violet-blue variety with a light beard. It is an upright grower and free flowering and blooms in midseason. There is more violet in the blue of this variety than in Ideal and Wedgewood, but even with its violet tone, it is still a remarkable blue Iris. $1.50.
From G. G. Whitelegg catalog, 1921: VIKING (Bliss 1920). This is a lovely pure violet-blue Pallida similar to, but considerably deeper in colour than Suffren, and the individual flowers are larger. The habit of growth is exceedingly good, and it is very free-flowering; height, 3 ft.
