'Total Elegance' (
James Gibson, R. 1984). Seedling# 125-9B. TB, 35.5" (88 cm). Midseason bloom. Standards light orange ground, stitched purple violet (RHS 80A), brown rim; falls white ground, stitched purple violet, violet blue center stripe, brown hafts; white beard tipped orange, violet on outer end; ruffled, fluted and laced. Unknown parentage. Gibson Iris 1985.

From AIS Bulletin #256 January 1985 Introducing TOTAL ELEGANCE-TB, 34", M, Plicata, Sdlg. 125-9B. $25.00. This lovely plicata has attracted much attention. Not tall, but the floral activity more than makes up for it. Closely held stands are very ruffled, fluted and heavily laced. Brown outer rim, purple-violet (80A) inner rim on light orange ground. Heavily fluted, lightly ruffled, semi flaring falls. White ground with purple violet plicata markings, violet-blue center stripe and brown hafts. White beards tipped orange inside and violet on outer edge. Great substance, branching and high bud count. Gibson Iris Gardens. |
