'The Guardsman' (Dr. Henry Lee Grant, R. 1939) TB. Late midseason bloom. Color Class-S9D. 'Winneshiek' x unknown. Honorable Mention 1940.

From Fairmount Gardens catalog, 1946: THE GUARDSMAN (Grant 1939) E. M. A handsome iris with standards of dusty pink. The undercolor of the semi-flaring falls is slightly deeper than the standards with a velvety overlay of mulberry edged with the dustv pink of the standards. Good substance. H. M., A. I. S. 1940. R. 88 1942. 38 in. $3.50
