'Summer Tan' (Kirk, 1934). It is difficult to describe this iris but the name gives some idea of the rich tawny coloring. A most distinctive iris of luminous tan with undertone of apricot. Medium height. ----Mabel Carey Tobie p58 AIS Bulletin #59 October 1935 Iris notes on Mrs. Thomas Nesmith's collection.
Surmmer Tan: (Kirkland). Name implies the color which is quite rich, rather closely branched. [Belsley, Ray J., Varietal Comments. Bulletin of the American Iris Society 74 (July 1939), 19.]
