1954, Zurbrigg

'Sultan's Armor' (Lloyd Zurbrigg, selector for A. K. Edmison, R. 1953) TB, 24" (61 cm). Midseason bloom. Brown self (deeper brown at center of haft, but self effect). 'Armour Bright' X 'Sultan's Robe'. Avonbank 1954.

Note: Registered TB, but should probably be BB because of height.

From AIS Bulletin #133, April 1954. Introducing SULTAN'S ARMOUR (Edlnison)-The finest border iris to date. 24", one branch and terminal, midseason bloom. A flaring deep brown self without haft marking. Standards tightly closed and swirled. Perfectly proportioned, and ideal with the flamingo pinks. Vigorous and hardy. (ARMOUR BRIGHT x SULTAN'S ROBE). $20.00. Avonbank 1954.
