References:
From AIS Bulletin #236 January 1980 Introducing STORMY SEAS (W. Jones '79). 36", ML. Hyacinth blue standards have bright plum purple at the base of the midribs. These "stormy standards" are well held with excellent ruffling and fluting. The "waves" reach shore in the light lobelia blue falls, which fade toward white with age. The "whitecaps" are the accent pieces-muted yellow stylearms and crests. All segments are irregularly touched with muted yellow at the tips. Good grower and wind resistant. A different and pleasing color combination. Thanks to Ron Mullin, who suggested the name. This iris was a hit at the pre-convention 1979 tour gardens in the Tulsa area. Pink Sleigh X Sea Venture. Sdlg. #75-145K. H.C. 1979. $25.00. There is a waiting list for 1980. Contemporary Gardens. |
