Spring Idyl - Noted for its daintiness, both in form and in color. A milk white, shading into orchid pink at the top of the standards and the bottom of the falls, with lemon beard. Tall wiry stems, the delicate blossoms amply spaced, give promise of great favor as a cut flower in addition to its special landscape value. An apple blossom effect, light and airy. Very limited stock. Each $10.00 [Cooley's catalog, 1939] |
When I got to the pinks I had some trouble in eliminating. No orchid-pinks are included in my list, and it may be unbalanced in that respect. I do not like them quite so well as the yellow-toned pinks, and most of them either have proved floppy or have been poor growers with me. I like SPRING IDYL of this type, but have not grown it long enough to be sure of its dependability. [Wills, Jesse, (1943). Older Iris I Would Buy Again, American Iris Society Bulletin, 89(April 1943), 14.] |
