'Spoon Of Gold' ( Lloyd Austin, R. 1960). Seedling# 8178. TB, height 36" (91 cm), Early midseason to midseason bloom. Color Class-Y1. Light yellow self with prominent horns. 'Happy Birthday' X 'Horned Papa'. Rainbow 1961.

From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: SPOON OF GOLD (Austin '61) M-36". Sparkling bright light yellow producing interesting bearded horns, often ending in spoons that are sometimes rounded & flat, & sometimes folded, occasionally attaining sizes of 1" to 1-1/2" across. Best of the spooned Iris for producing superior flounced & spooned seedlings--seed parent of my Jumbo Flounce.49 chromosomes. (Happy Birthday X Horned Papa).
