1957, Crandall

'Speckled Bird' (Fred Crandall, R. 1957). TB, 34" (86 cm). Early to midseason bloom. Color Class-V2D, Purple self with complete plicata coverage. 'Tiffany' x 'Capitola'. Crandall 1958.

Note: Although registered as a TB, 'Speckled Bird' is considered an Arilbred. See Ab 'Speckled Bird'.

From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: SPECKLED BIRD (Crandall '58) EM-34". Most unusual of Oncobreds, a real novelty. A huge flower, horizontal falls spreading out to 8". A soft violet, very heavily flushed & speckled white, especially in falls. Heavy leathery substance. Try this for something truly different! Pollen abundant. Foliage dies down in late summer or fall like its Onco ancestor. Tiffany X Capitola. Regularly $2.50: on $10 order $1.60; on $25 order $1.25.
