'Spanish Sun' (Steve Varner, R. 1974). Seedling# 950. TB, 35" (89 cm), Midseason late bloom. Deep bright yellow with cream spot below light orange beard; heavily ruffled. Seedling# 480: ('Rainbow Gold' x 'Celestial Glory') X Seedling# 483: ('Illini Gold' x 'Rainbow Gold'). Illini Iris 1975.

From AIS Bulletin #217 April 1975 Introducing SPANISH SUN. Sdlg. 950, 35", ML (480 X 483). This wide, heavily ruffled, bright medium yellow with cream spot below light orange beard is very floriferous, sending up many well-branched stalks per clump. A favorite in Virginia! Net $25.00. Illini Iris.
