From Milliken Iris Gardens catalog, 1948: SORREL TOP (Mitchell) This is different and we like it. The flowers are medium size, light yellow, in some portions suffused with rose and in others heavily marked with rosy brown. The distribution of the darker color is what gives it such distinction, although the carrying of the flowers on wide branches is a contributing factor. 3-1/2 feet. $3.00. |
From Carl Salbach catalog 1943: SORREL TOP (Mitchell-Salbach 1943). (Palo Alto x Orloff.) A late and very distinct plicata. 42" high, wide branched, 6 to 8 buds. Medium size flowers, 4-1/2 x 4-1/2. Standards pale yellow very heavily suffused brownish rose, falls white heavily edged brownish rose. A plicata in a new pattern. Very effective in the garden. Mid-season. Stock limited. One to a customer. $15.00. |
