From R. Wallace Co. catalog, 1922: SIR HUGH EVANS (Newlands, 1922). A. hybrid from Iris Caterina. A pale blue purple, almost a self; of medium height. Strong, sturdy growth and robust constitution. It is of a pleasing and distinct shade of colour difficult to describe. CV. 31/6 each. |
From Bonnewitz catalog, 1927: SIR HUGH EVANS (Newlands/Hort). We have had this variety in our garden for five years, and it has never bloomed for us and it has made very little increase. We would like to know what success other Iris enthusiasts have had with it. $5.00. |
