From Maple Valley catalog 1939: SIOUX CITY (Snyder 1939) M. 36 in. A pure, even toned self of rich heliotrope purple that retains its rare delicate beauty in any light. The flower is large and well proportioned, with firm standards and semi»flaring falls. It was grown by Mr. W. S. Snyder of Sioux City and given an H. C. (highly commended) at the 1938 Iris Show there. $10.00.
