From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: SIERRA SUNSET (Austin '62) E-M-45". A remarkable tall, robust Iris that takes its name in part from our own nearbY, loftY Sierra Nevada, in part from the glory of its true sunset coloring. Large enough to class as a Colossal & quite often many of the flowers are horned, too, with horns over 1" long. Standards bright buff-yellow, lightly laced; falls light crimson, splashed & edged in light yellow. A skyscraper of an Iris, will sometimes reach above 4 feet. Likely to yield offspring that are horned or laced, or both. Try it. Pollen plentiful. Horned Skylark X Ruffled Apache. Regularly $10; on $15 order $6.65; on $25 order $5.95. |
