From Treholme Gardens catalog 1931: ROSE OF CUBA (Sass, J. 1930) E.88, G.87, M. S., 36". An Amparo purple self, with a characteristic darker purple blotch on the fall at the haft. A very large flower of good form and finish, on strong branched stalks.
From Sass catalog, 1937: ROSE OF CUBA (Jacob Sass, 1932)- A fine rose toned iris of medium height and fine sized blooms. S. Armparo purple; F. petunia violet with brown haft; yellow beard. Thirty-two inch branching stems. 25c
