From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog, 1967: RESTLESS WAVES (Tompkins 1967) M.L. 35 in. (Blue Sdlg Line x Blue Sdlg Line). This new blue is one of the most spectacularly beautiful varieties we have so far produced. A beautifully formed flower of immense size with gorgeous ruffling and very broad heavily substanced petals, it is quite different in Color make-up than others, appearing to be a bright, chalky sky blue, like powdered blue chalk smoothly blended over a milk white base giving a beautiful foamy, blue over white look to the whole flower. Its airy fluffed form, heavily ruffled, conically domed standards and broad overlapping hafts and flaring ruffled falls add to the frothy "Restless Waves" affect. H.C. 1965. Pictured on rear cover. Net $35.00. |
