REJOICE, George Dubes, 1958, thrilled me with its dazzling whiteness and the wide, horizontally flared falls. I watched as Bob Young bent one of the fall petals downward until it should have snapped! But the substance of this sculptured beauty is so remarkable that the petal, when released, bounced back to its original position with nary a mark to betray the indignity to which it had been put. Width is a characteristic of each part: style crests, standards and falls. Intricately laced style crests and shirred ruffling on all petals create a vision not easily forgotten. Blossoms are nicely spaced on tall, strong bloomstalks. Four increase on a new plant spoke well for its vitality. [Mrs. J. R. Hamblen, "Drama of Progress", A.I.S. Bulletin 161(April 1961): 10.] |

"Another beautiful white with very good form. It is ruffled and has very good substance. The branching is a little high, but the flowers are not too close. This has the longest blooming period of any we grow, as it is among the first to bloom, as well as the last. A good grower and a prolific bloomer." [Lester Hildenbrandt (Lexington, Nebraska), "Irises For A Beginner", A.I.S. Bulletin 177(April 1965): 29.] |
"The most flaring of all the new whites and of extremely fine substance; the ruffling extends clear into the haft. Tall, strong and well-branched stems, generally an outstanding performer. A good parent, as it usually transmits its best characteristics well." [Lewis, Ralph and Helen, "Irises We Liked", A.I.S. Bulletin 164(Jan. 1962): 47.] |
