From Carl Salbach catlaog 1935: Prof. S. B. Mitchell ( Cayeux 1933 ) . A new French variety just released this season. A simply huge red-violet iris which attracted much attention in our trial bed of the newest iris. Very popular. Named for Sydney Mitchell, one of, if not the most distinguished American iris hybridists. $12.50.
