1980, Gaulter

'Prancing Pony' (Larry Gaulter, R. 1978). Seedling #75-2, TB, 34" (86 cm), Early to midseason bloom. Standards brown-lavender; falls burgundy; orange beard; ruffled. 69-33: (seedlings from 'Grape Festival' x 'Orinda') X 'Hi Top'. Cooley's Gardens 1980.

  • [Cooley's Gardens 1987]: Firmly fluted edges and tones of lavender-brown and burgundy are associated with a dancing circus pony. The lavender-brown of the standards is repeated in the band around the burgundy falls, which sport a center highlight. Petals are very heavy substance, blooms very large--8 to the stalk--haft bronze, and beards orange. -- DavidPotembski - 30 Apr 2013
