(TB) 'Pot O' Gold'
1941, Grant
'Pot O' Gold' (
Dr. Henry Lee Grant, R. 1940) TB. Midseason to late bloom. Color Class-Y4D.
'Jelloway' x probably
'Golden Hind'. Grant, Fairmount 1941.
POT OF GOLD is the most brilliant deep yellow iris that I know, and compared with it
'Golden Hind', one of its parents, seems almost pallid. [A.I.S. Bulletin
82:15 July 1941]
POT O' GOLD (Grant 1941) M. L. Rich in color and with no venation this deep yellow self of medium size is a welcome variation from the many huge yellows of the present day. Much deeper in tone than
'Jelloway' one of its parents, it has smooth strong substance and a firm finish that makes it most brillint and outstanding in the garden. Rich orange beard. Splendid form and branching. R. 89 1941. 36 in. $7.50.
[Mrs. Thomas Nesmith, Fairmount Gardens Catalog, Lowell, Massachusetts, Introductions for 1941. Summer 1942-Spring 1943].
