POST SCRIPT (Tompkins 1965) E. Ml. 38-40 in. (Helen Collingwood x Mystic Melody) x Madame Butterfly. A full sister to last year's 'Trudy', this is another brown and white amoena. A bit larger than its sister, this has considerably wider standards and falls plus a heavier touch of fluting or ruffling at the hafts. While both have near identical standards of white with faint gilt touches, this has falls of a much more sombre coloring, somewhere between the shades of burnt umber and burnt sienna without the somewhat orangey chestnut undertones found in the falls of Trudy. It seems to us that visitors find it every bit as fascinating as its sister and we have just as many requests for it for breeding. Since we have not as yet bloomed seedlings from it we cannot vouch for its abilities as a parent either way, though we are anxious to see what it may produce this year. It does seem to increase somewhat faster than its sister and has larger rhizomes and foliage with tall, well-branched stalks. No 61-51A …...... $ 20.00. [Fleur de Lis catalog, 1965]
