'Pandora's Purple' (Allan Ensminger, R. 1980). Seedling# 276-7. TB, 31" (79 cm). Early to Midseason bloom. Violet (HCC 033/3) ground with purple (033) plicata markings on edges; violet beard. 'Charmed Circle' X 'Inty Greyshun'. Varigay Gardens 1981. Honorable Mention 1983; Favorite Guest 1984.

From AIS Bulletin #241 April 1981 Introducing PANDORA'S PURPLE-1981. $25.00. This big-blossomed violet Iris fades after a day to reveal that it is really a plicata with violet background color. Sib to Purple Streaker. Varigay Gardens.

  • TB 'Pandora's Purple' bloomed at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, zone 4b, approximately May 24 - June 13, in 2017. Although I didn't see any purple based foliage at the base of the leaves, this variety does have purple coloring on its spathes. -- HollyJohnson2017 -04-01 - 21 Sep 2017
