- I have a hard time with 'black' irises in MS. Several have bloomed out and others bloom so late in the season they burn up. I introduced this iris because it blooms in the middle of the season and is unaffected by heat. It is well branched and has a high bud count. Its parent 'Hello Darkness' was inclined to bloom out, but NTTM does not have this trait. It is also very fertile both ways and more babies are on the way!
The name comes from the old Roy Acuff song which was later given a lively upbeat by Jerry Lee Lewis.
I think you'll love this iris if you have trouble growing 'blacks.' --
