'Navy Waves' (Paul Black, R. 1983). Seedling# B80-73. TB, 38" (97 cm), Midseason bloom. Ruffled deep blue; blue beard tipped yellow; slight sweet fragrance. 'Waltzing Widow' X 'Navy Strut'. Mid-America Gardens 1984. Honorable Mention 1987.

From Mid-America Garden catalog, 1984: NAVY WAVES- TB, 38" (97 cm), Midseason. The name says it all. The flowers are large iridescent deep blue with precise billowy ruffles around both standards and falls. A light sanding of white around the beards adds a bit of sparkle. There are three branches plus spur and eight to ten buds. Sdlg. 680-73: Waltzing Widow X Navy Strut. $25.00
