From Treholme Gardens catalog 1931: MOON MAGIC (Shull 1931) E.88, G.85, M. S. to L. 36". S. napthalene yellow, shaded amber yellow at base; F. creamy white, shaded greenish yellow at margin and mid-rib, deepening at base; prominent light yellow beard. The effect in the border is an unusual creamy white. A large flower of good form and a heavy smooth texture, on strong low-branched stalks. |
MOON MAGIC. I was privileged to visit Mr. Shull's own garden in Chevy Chase last May, and found this excellent iris at its very best. It is of a general buff-yellow tone, smooth and creamy in texture, of wonderful form. There is little doubt in my own mind but that Moon Magic will be proclaimed as Shull's greatest achievement since he gave us 'Morning Splendor'. The accompanying photo gives a good idea of the opulence of bloom, branching, and general all around good qualities which go to make this an iris of rare merit. Each $8.00. Cooley's Wholesale pricelist, 1932. |
