From Cape Iris catalog, 1980: MELON SUPREME (Niswonger'80) Sdlg.19-77: Coral Strand X Peach Spot, 33" (84 cm), TB, W5/06, Early-Mid., fertile both ways, 7 buds, nicely placed. This is a cantaloupe amoena from my pink amoena breeding program. There is a slight apricot color in the midribs and stds. and style arms. The falls are light orange with a rim around them and the bright tangerine beard makes a delightful color combination. It favors Peach Spot more than Coral Strand in color but it has the vigor and branching of Coral Strand. I have saved more seedlings from this cross than any other. It should be very useful in breeding pink amoenas. The stock is limited, but I wanted to make it available soon for breeders. $25.00. |
