'Lunar Flame' (Howard Shockey, R. 1991). Seedling# 87-207-A. TB, 36" (91 cm), Midseason bloom. Yellow (RHS 13B), falls with lighter center area; beards orange red (33A); pronounced sweet fragrance. 'Flaming Victory' X seedling# 80-221-3C: (('Carved Cameo' x 'Summer Love') x 'Beige Melody'). Arilian Acres 1992.

From AIS Bulletin #284 January 1992 Introducing LUNAR FLAME (H. Shockey) TB M 36". "Vigorous medium yellow self of broad form and heavy texture. Lighter central areas in falls set off the bright orange-red beards (RHS 33A). In addition to its good attributes in plant and flower, it is the most intensively perfumed iris in the garden (and I grow THAT SCENTSATION). $30.00. Arilian Acres.
