From Tell’s Iris Gardens catalog,1959: LOVELY DIANA (Tell Muhlestein). Early-Midseason. 36 inches. (Cathedral Bells x Pink Enchantment.) Bright Orchid-fuchsia with a colorful fuchsia-cerise beard. While this is in the color range of such lovely iris as Mary Randall and Pretty Carol it is a little more "red" due to the fuchsia influence. The flowers are bright in the garden and are nicely formed and have good substance. Crossed with Enchanted Violet (and its sisters,) Anembo, Mary Randall, Pretty Carol, Lynn Hall, Radiation, etc. LOVELY DIANA should give some lovely things and could produce real pinks with pink beards. Named for our friend the late Diana Schuman-an enthusiastic lover of irises whose home was in Detroit. Awarded an H.C. for 1957 under No. 56-6F. $25.00 |
