From Carl Salbach catalog 1947: LOVE AFFAIR. A wholly charming rose pink plicata. The well-shaped, good-sized flowers, standards flushed and stippled deep vinaceous (Ridgeway) on white, falls broadly edged with the same color, are carried gracefully on low-branched but stiff stalks, averaging this year 34" high with as many as 10 buds on the established plants. As seedling 0-126-1 it was given unanimous approval by visitors to the Mitchell garden. Received first prize at the 1946 Oakland Spring Garden Show for the best single stem and also a seedling award. Stock limited. Each. $15.00.
From Milliken Iris Gardens catalog, 1948: LOVE AFFAIR (Mitchell) "What a beautiful pink plicata," is the remark usually made when our visitors see this iris. Ridgway lists the color as "deep vinaceous", but its beauty rises above nomenclature. It has already won sweepstakes in one of the largest flower shows. It blooms freely and the plant is vigorous. 3 feet. $10.00.
