'Krakatoa' (Mary Ellen Knopf, R. 1959). Seedling# 15-E-108. TB, 36" (91 cm), Midseason bloom. Color Class-YO2D, Standards brown; falls biscuit, stitched brown. ('Custard' x 1940) X ('Sorrel Top' x 1940). Knopf 1960. Honorable Mention 1961.

From AIS Bulletin #157, April 1960. Introducing KRAKATOA (Sdlg No. 15.E-I08) (Custard x 1940) x (Sorrel Top x 1940). As the name implies something unusual. Another plicata, this one with yellow background. Closed standards laced and dotted brown. Falls stitched on edge with violet. Fine brown dotting around bronze beard. Good substance, fine texture. Laced and serrated over entire flower including beautiful style arms. Nicely branched. Fertile both ways. Received the Exhibition Certificate at the Clara B. Rees Iris Society Annual Show in San Jose, California, 1959. M. 34". $25.00. Knopf Iris Garden.
