From Tell’s Iris Garden catalog, 1958: JUNGLE BIRD (George Mayberry, Provo, Utah). Midseason-Late. 40 inches. (Tell sdlg: (Miogem x Campfire Glow) x Tell sdlg: ((51-66 sister: Aubanel x Mayday) x (Lady Albright)). A wide and very rich blend and the smoothest I have seen. There is not a vestige of a haft marking. Standards Amaranth, falls Amaranth blended rich claret and violet. Vigorous foliage and rhizomes both of which are disease resistant. Should be a great breeder to produce very smooth things in blends, browns and possibly reds. Has pollen, but pods with some difficulty, yet was compatible with Bang. No. 52-2-1. $25.00 |
