From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1965: JUMBO FLOUNCE (Austin '63) ML-32". A lemon yellow with lemon flounces. Aside from Super Flounce, this has given us the largest flounces ever seen in any Iris-up to 2-1/4" in both length and width. And what is more, quite frequently each big flounce has a small secondary flounce, about 3/4" across, appearing intriguingly on top, at end of beard. Wh1le not as yet perfect, th1s would be the beginning of doubling of Iris flowers thru flounces-effect enhanced by unique form of flower, which has falls ascending sharply above the horizontal & standards open, nearly erect. Thus the whole flower often looks more like a yellow double rose than an Iris. Your visitors will hardly believe their eyes. Spoon of Gold X Lemon Spoon. Regularly $20.00; on $30 order $8.95.
From Melrose Gardens catalog 1976: JUMBO FLOUNCE (Austin '63) This one has the largest flounces of all, almost too much, but it certainly tickles the curious bone. In fact this is, or gives the effect of a double Iris. The falls do not turn down so that all petals and the extra-extra-extra petaloids in the flounce all combine into what might be called a "full blown rose" effect. And it is yellow.VALUE 2.50 DISCOUNT PRICE 1.50.
