| Original catalog description |
| In all respects but one, this is a carbon copy of Jacquesiana (Lemon 1840). The difference? You'll wonder where the yellow went! Lacking any yellow pigment, the flower now is in colors associated with classic cattleya orchids, running from palest orchid to rich red-violet. As you would expect, growth is vigorous, the stalks well-branched and -budded, the healthy foliage featuring strong purple leaf bases. Originated as a bilateral chimera on Jacquesiana. The name commemorates the Alsatian-French composer of melodic operas-comique that were all the rage in Paris when Lemon's irises were in vogue. |
