From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog, 1968: ITSA DOOZEY (Tompkins 19681 M.L. 44 in. (((Mountain Music x Flagship) x Violet Hills x Flagship)) x (Mountain Music x High Above))). This is easily one of the most brilliant Iris in our garden and can truly be called a crowd stopper. It is a self of very brilliant Reddish Violet, Fuchsia Red, Magenta, or Petunia Violet; whichever name fits your estimate of the color. It somehow reminds us of a very, very old variety called Magenta as to its coloring and I suppose it is really closer to Red Violet in our estimation than to any other shade. Certainly it is one of the most vivid of all the Iris we grow and it is also a very cleanly finished flower with no veins or marks of any kind and is a self even to the vivid reddish violet beard. The huge, broad petaled flowers are beautifully formed with broad, heavily ruffled, well domed stands and huge, ruffled semi-flaring falls. Strong, Mountain Music type stalks show off the huge flowers to perfection and the height plus this branching often allows three or four blooms to be displayed at one time. No. 64-301. Net $25.00 |
