From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: ICE 'N LIME (Tompkins '58) EML-38". Lovely new amoena, aptly named, for its wide, domed standards are pure icy white & the broad falls are a chartreuse-yellow, in a tone between lemon & lime. Flowers so heavy substanced that they are very long lasting. One of the first to bloom, the last to finish & a great favorite with visitors all season long. Proving a good parent. HM'61. (Lamplit Hour x (Shah Jehan x Burning Bronze)) X (Pinnacle x Sass 50-429). Regularly $2.50; on $10 order $1.55; on $25 order $1.10; 3 for $2.80; 10 for $8.40. |

- I grow both of these. Ice 'N' Lime("InL") is similar to Pinnacle ("P"), P being introduced 9 years earlier by Jean Stevens. My observations conclude that on InL the falls are wider, not as long and the beard is thicker and yellow all the way to the tip. P's falls are narrower, longer, and the beard narrows at the tip and turns white while the inside has more of a reddish tint to it. -- WikiGuest - 31 Oct 2018
