From AIS Bulletin #209 April 1973 Introducing HAPPY HALO '73. M. 34". $25.00. This ruffled plicata, 5" X 7", is distinctive with its form and color. It received much favorable comment in the garden and slides shown, where it was known as 50-7D. Many viewers called it pink and white in effect. The flower is of excellent form, ruffled and laced, with white ground overlaid with a bright aster violet. The falls are broad, "3-1/2", flaring and leather like in texture. The fluted, ruffled and lightly laced rim is asterviolet over a sparkling white ground. Gibson's Iris Garden. |
50-7D was as outstanding here as it seemed when I saw it in Jim's garden a year ago. Its large, nicely formed flowers, ruffled and with some lace, are pink-orchid on white ground. You will not overlook it, I assure you. [Jones, Bennett C. (1972). Oregon in ’72, American Iris Society Bulletin 204(January 1972), 19.] |
