From Tell’s Gardens catalog, 1964: GOLD LIGHTNING (G. Mayberry '64) M-VL 38 in. ((49-30, sib. to Utah Cream x Spring Sunshine) x (Party Dress x Pink Formal) x Party Dress)) X (Marilyn C) Heavily substanced large rich yellow with lighter area in falls, deeper brushings of golden yellow at hafts, and there is an infusion of apricot elusively scattered through the flower. The long, heavy beard is intense reddish tangerine. Heavy stalks have three branches with three buds in the sockets and four buds in the Terminal. Fertile both ways. Every flower will set a pod if pollinated. I have seen four pods on the top, or terminal. H.C. '63. #58-7-1. $25.00 |
