From Wallace Iris Gardens catalog 1955: GESERAL PATTON -(Kleinsorge '47) M.-L. (310 x Bryce Canyon.) Deep red-copper. Somewhat slow of increase but fine color. H. M. '47. $2.00. |
From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1956: GENERAL PATTON (Klein. 1947) M. L. 37 in. (Klein. No. 310 x Bryce Canyon). A fiery copper red of large size with broad rounded petals. H. M. 1947. 1.50. |
From Cooley's 1947 Iris Gardens catalog [introductory year]: GENERAL PATTON (Kleinsorge, 1947) Sometimes we are inclined to consider this the most outstanding Iris this breeder has thus far produced. If some of the others were not quite so good, we would be quite positive! It is a solid copper-brown self, with a metallic undertone that makes it glisten in the sun. Compared to Bryce Canyon it is much darker, richer, and appears brown rather than terra-cotta in tone. Bold and commanding in appearance with tall stems and fine branching. Each $20.00 |
