'Gay Motif' (Opal Brown, R. 1982). Seedling# 77-2A20. TB, 35" (89 cm). Midseason bloom. Standards azalea pink (RHS 39C/D); falls azalea pink, blending to magnolia (70D) at lower edge; poppy red (40D) beard; ruffled. 'Schiaparelli' sibling X 'Instant Charm'. Brown's Sunnyhill Gardens 1982. Honorable Mention 1985. See below:

From AIS Bulletin #245 April 1982 Introducing GAY MOTIF (0. Brown) TB, 35", M. Very large, ruffled flowers with nicely closed standards and wide, flaring falls. Standards and styles are azalea pink. Falls are the same, only blending from the center to light magnolia purple. Poppy red beards. Excellent branching. #77-2A20. Schiaparelli sib X Instant Charm. $25.00. Brown's Sunnyhill Gardens.
