1957, Hamblen

'Gay Adventure' (Melba Hamblen, R. 1956). Seedling# 55-27D. TB, 34" (86 cm). Early to late bloom. Color Class BV1, Grayed blue-violet self. ('Helen McGregor' x 'Radiation') X 'Palomino'. Mission Bell 1957.

From AIS Bulletin #150, July 1958: GAY ADVENTURE-Wide, flaring blue-violet self with a lemon beard. Substance-like that of its sisters-is exceptionally heavy. $15.00. Mission Bell.
From Fleur De Lis Gardens catalog 1963: GAY ADVENTURE (Hamblen '57) E.M. 36in. Enchanted Violet sib. A large, broad petaled flower of gray violet with full yellow beard. Should be a fine parent. H.M. 1957. 2.00.
