From Longfield Iris Farm catalog, 1935: Gaucho (Wmsn. No. 1146, 1935). (Special mixture). A tall, very brilliant variegata of good form and large size. S. arching cupped, obcordate, Empire Yellow shading to Lemon Chrome; F. straight hanging, wedge-shaped; Vandyke Red with narrow margin of Empire Yellow. Haft, Empire Yellow veined Amber Brown. Beard, Cadmium Yellow; style branches Empire Yellow. The large flowers are 4-1/2 inches high and 5 inches wide; nine flowers to a stalk that is excellently branched. The plant is vigorous and a fast multiplier. We recommend this variegata not only for its very fine coloring but for its excellent habit of growth. 32 inches tall. $3.00.
