From Glen Road Iris Gardens catalog, 1924: GARNET (Sturt. 1924) — A slender, erect stalk, short branched, the flowers small, but rich pansy and velvety black violet in tone. A “bantam” with the coloring of Archeveque and a really indescribable style. 3 ft. 10.00.
