From AIS Bulletin #229, Spring 1978 Introducing FRESNO CALYPSO (Weiler '78). 71-53. TB, 91 em. (36"), M-L. This broad, sparkling, full orange is a distinctive advance in the color class. Arched standards touch at the top and broad falls flare nicely. A light wave to the petal edges adds a frill to the colorful costume. Stalks are sturdy, straight, and bear three branches plus a terminal averaging 8 buds. Well grown specimens from large rhizomes produce a higher bud count with many sockets carrying 3 buds. This outstanding variety has won EC, HC in 1976 and the Region 14 garden award in 1977. Destined to be very popular. Fertile both ways. (Ballerina x Orange Crush) X Quadros-Alves seedling 66-J-58, which involved Golden Gene and orange seedlings. $25.00. Rialto Gardens. |
