From Rainbow Hybridizing Gardens catalog 1963: FIRST VIOLET (DeForest '52) M-38". '56 DYKES. A superb creation in true sparkling spectrum-violet (neither red-violet nor blue-violet) without a trace of any other color to mar its fine quality. A flower of great size, with 6" ruffled flowers perfectly spaced on tall stalks. Flower parts wide and haft clean. A luscious color that seems to attract everyone. Fragrant. Chivalry X Spanish Peaks. Regularly $1.50; on $10 order $1.20; on $25 order 95c.
From Wallace Iris Gardens catalog 1955: FIRST VIOLET- (DeForest '52) M . 38 inches. (Chivalry x Spanish Peaks). Manganese violet with blue under tones giving the impression of a rich violet self. Grand. H.M. '53. NET $20.00.
