We predict that Far West will become as popular as have Meldoric, Venus de Milo, Zuni and Ethelwyn Dubuar, all of which we introduced in former years and every one of which has become so favorably known that we sold out of every one of them again last year !"-- Cooley's 1936 Catalog.
From Carl Salbach catalog 1937: FAR WEST (Kleinsorge). A huge blend of soft gold, light bronze and palest salmon. Of bold, sturdy growing habit, with large blooms on fine 40-inch stalks. Considered to be Dr. Kleinsorge's finest new iris production to date. $15.00.

"FAR WEST (Kleinsorge, 1936) Shown on the opposite page, a warm and mellow blend of salmon and golden sand, of coral and henna, with a soFt glow at the heart. Originated in the West, and containing that multitude of tints seen in the western sky at sundown. Of bold and sturdy growing habit, the big blooms are well spaced on Fine stalks reaching 40 inches in height. The likeness of this flower as shown on the next page [See Attachment] is achieved by a new process and we guarantee its absolute accuracy, although some reduction in size was necessary. Each $25.00
Far West's value as a parent may be its strongest selling point in the future, but it is a good garden iris, too, a mellow harmony of color in salmon, gold, and henna, with a nebulous blue overtone.
