From AIS Bulletin #125, April 1952. Introducing EMPRESS EUGENIE (David Lyon '52) (Char-Maize x Cordovan). This Iris is of the deepest Empire yellow self, with an intense buttercup yellow beard. Graceful arched standards, broad falls of smooth heavy texture with saucer flaring form, have no haft markings to mar its beauty. $15.00. Lyon Iris Garden. |
From Fleur de Lis gardens catalog 1956: EMPRESS EUGENIE (Lyon 1952) M. 37 in. Char-Maize x Cordovan). Almost a completely new shade in the yellows, this is a very de.p empire gold with a full beard of buttercup yellow. The flowers are very large, heavily substanced and have a very glistening, finish. A spray of garnet brown at the base intensifies the color. The falls are completely horizontal and the standards are perfectly domed. H. M. 1954. 2,50. |
