'Elizabeth Carol' (James Burch, R. 1982). Seedling 39-11. TB, 35" (89 cm). Late midseason bloom. Standards reddish black (RHS 187B); falls reddish black (187A); rust (163A) beard. Steinhauer seedling 7301X 'Dark Ritual'. Burch Iris 1986. Exhibition Certificate 1980; High Commendation 1983.

From AIS Bulletin #261 April 1986 Introducing ELIZABETH CAROL-TB (Steinhauer 7301 X Dark Ritual) This beautiful near black, velvety self has slightly ruffled flowers. It does appear to be black when in bud and first opened but brightens to red-black as the blossom matures. It has 3 branches with 7 buds. EC '80, HC '83. $25.00. Burch Iris Garden.
